All About Us

We serve preK through fifth grade students and staff in a variety of ways:

  • PreK and kindergarten classes come to our Library Media Center a few times a year for story time, and to become familiar with the library. Their teachers may come to enhance their classroom libraries or for special books at any time.
  • First, second, third, fourth, and fifth graders come once every four school days, rotating in their specials groups with Art, Music, and P.E.

Library Book Selection

First and second grade students may check out 1 book from the E (Everybody) or ER (Easy Reader) section. When that book is returned in good condition, the student may check out another one.

Third grade will check out one book from any section in the library, FIC, NF, E, ER, or PB, until it is deemed appropriate by staff (usually around Thanksgiving, after good habits have been maintained consistently) and they may check out two books. No new books may be checked out if either book is overdue.

Fourth and fifth grade may check out two books from any section,FIC, NF, E, ER, or PB. No new books may be checked out if either book is overdue.

**Checkout periods are four school days. Holidays and weekends do not count.

As well as regularly scheduled check-out times, students may come open check-out between 7:50 and 8:00 a.m., 9:00-11:30, and 12:45 and 3:10 p.m. They must have a teacher's permission to come during class time.
